Charles Goebel DO
Charles Goebel DO is a fifth-generation physician
The Goebels have had a doctor in the family for more than 100 years, so it seems that Charles Goebel DO was destined to become a physician. “My uncle was the pediatrician for me and my siblings. We spent a lot of time at the doctor’s office because there were seven children in our family, which inspired me to become a pediatrician. My goal was to make going to the doctor fun for kids.”
Our Plano pediatrician enjoys treating all childhood ailments, but he also has special interests. “I enjoy working with premature and high-risk infants and, as an active person, I am passionate about sports medicine. I also seem to attract the hard-to-solve cases, but I enjoy the challenge of diagnosing and treating these children.”
Charles Goebel DO offers extensive experience in pediatrics
After graduating from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Charles Goebel DO earned his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He then completed a one-year internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, followed by a three-year residency in pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
He cofounded Pediatric Specialists of Plano (PSOP) in 2001, and he is proud of the practice it is today. “Children who visit PSOP are patients of a specific physician, not patients of the practice. Seeing the same physician builds trust between doctor and patient, making the doctor’s office less scary for children. This arrangement also allows each physician to become familiar with their patients and provide better diagnosis and treatment.”
In addition to treating children at PSOP, Charles Goebel DO is the former chairman of pediatrics at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and Baylor University Medical Center in Frisco. He also served on the medical board of Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and is the preceptor for the University of Texas Medical Branch. He also loves giving back to his community and works with FISD and PISD in their medical mentorship programs.
An outdoorsman and a family man
Charles Goebel DO and his wife have two beautiful daughters. “I’m so proud of my family, and I love spending time with them.”
He also enjoys spending time outdoors. “I love hiking, biking, running and boating. If it’s an activity you can do outdoors, I enjoy it.”
